Legislative IssuesWhat Can You Do?It is important for the business community to voice it's opinions on certain issues both collectively through the Chamber and as individual business leaders. You can find contact information for your state and federal lawmakers on our Government Links page. Chamber Joins Grassroots Coalition to Represent Businesses in HarrisburgIn an effort to better represent the interests of local businesses, the Chamber has joined a new, statewide coalition which aims to be a powerful advocate with Pennsylvania legislators. The initiative is called Coalition 120, representing the 120,000 local businesses that belong to chambers of commerce in Pennsylvania. The goal of Coalition 120 is to mobilize local chambers in communicating clearly and frequently with elected officials on those issues that the coalition determines are vital concerns to the local business community. In addition, a focus will be on creating an environment within Pennsylvania that assures business viability and a higher quality of life for all Pennsylvanians. Coalition 120 will be non-partisan, and focused on those issues which improve local business opportunities. Members are being asked to provide their input on issues of importance to them through an online survey at www.hersheyphilbin.com/pcce/survey. The results will be tabulated by region as well as statewide to get an analysis of what impacts local businesses across the state. Chamber members can expect to see more information explaining legislation and issues at the state level that affect local businesses, along with increased advocacy from the Chamber. For more information, visit www.hersheyphilbin.com/coalition120. The coalition is being formed by Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce Executives (PCCE), the professional development organization for chambers of commerce throughout the Commonwealth and based in Harrisburg. PCCE represents some 145 local chambers in nearly every county. |
