A Technology Center Targeted for InnovationThe Bloomsburg Regional Technology Center is located in the Greater Susquehanna Keystone Innovation Zone. The GSKIZ will provide support for the commercialization of new technology concepts through relationships with Bloomsburg University, Bucknell University, Susquehanna University and Geisinger Medical Center. Targeted companies located in these zones are eligible for some relief on certain state taxes, and receive priority consideration when applying for other state grants and loans. A Cultural HavenAlthough Bloomsburg retains the charm of a small town, cultural opportunities abound. The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is known nationally for the quality of its productions. The area is home to numerous visual artists, including painters, photographers, ceramicists and sculptors. Bloomsburg University, in addition to hosting a student theatre group of its own, has eight performing groups, one of which welcomes participation from community members. In September, the Bloomsburg Fair attracts over half a million visitors to the area and highlights the rural heritage of the region. Each April, Renaissance Jamboree, an all-day fair, brings family entertainment and arts and crafts to Main Street. Accessible LocationBloomsburg is within a few hours driving distance of several major cities. Interstate 80 is less than a five-minute drive from Downtown. New York City is about three and a half hours away, Philadelphia is less than three hours, and Harrisburg and State College are about two hours.
